The highest level of authority in the
channel is determined by the highest ranking OP
present in the channel at any particular time.
Please respect these levels of authority.
Different Irc channel
ranks
Founder: has access to
all chanserv commands for the specified channel(must
ident to be recognized as founder, creator of that
channel).Founder can de-op anyone else. Founder can
kick-ban anyone (It IS the founder's
channel...)
SOP: SuperOp, the highest rank in a
channel next to the Founder. Can Kick/Ban ip, host or
nicknames as well as access to add them to the channel
akick list(akick list is a blacklist, meaning if your
added there you won't get back into that channel). Can
add others to the Aop, Hop, Vop channel lists, or
Voice other users. Sop can also take away these ranks.
Can make topic changes to channel topic if it is not
locked by the founder. Can set channel modes if mode
lock is not on in channel.
Aop: Op, can kick/ban ip, host
or nicknames. Can add others to the Hop, Vop channel
lists, or voice other users. Can make topic changes to
channel topic if it is not locked by the founder. Can
set channel modes if mode lock is not on in
channel.
Vop: Voice, this rank allows the
user to be auto voiced and to voice themselves if they
aren't. This rank allows no control other the channel
they are in. Advantage of Voice is if the channel if
moderated you will be able to speak in channel, your messages will not be
blocked.
The auto op feature only works if you
ident for your nickname before joining the channel. If
you ident after joining the channel you may have to
use the chanserv command to op yourself(ie....
/chanserv aop #channame nickname).
Each op rank
has a symbol to go with it, shown before the nick in
the nick list, which someone just learning Irc may not
know. They are as follows:
@ = OP rank. If someone ops you it will say
in channel so-n-so sets +o your nick.
+ = Voiced Users, not all users with + are on Vop list. User can
be voiced for a temp period by any op. If someone
gives you Voice, it will say in channel so-n-so sets
+v your nick
